Why I gain weight (The danger of magic foods)

This is probably the most embarrassing thing I’ve written in a while… but here it goes.

I gain weight when I look for magic in foods.

Seriously.

It’s when I’m looking for magic, when I deny the obviousness of overall food intake, when I look for foods to have special drug-like weight loss or muscle building properties, that I gain weight.

And not good weight… it’s the squishy, not-so-desirable-for-me weight.

Whether it’s over consuming coconut oil or peanut butter, eating massive amounts of carbs after my workout, or giant fat and protein meals before bed, it’s when what I’m doing falls outside of basic responsible eating that I gain weight.

When I tell myself something “doesn’t count” I gain weight…. whether it’s cheat meals or cheat days.

The bottom line is when we look for magic, when we look for short-cuts, we get burned.

No matter how many success stories support the magic or the short cut, it’s discipline, effort, constraint, and consistently that win the day.

I’m at my best when I’m not overthinking it all.

Hopefully you find this helpful 😉
